Another year, another batch of forgettable, bad films...
1. THE REQUIN (directed by Le-Van Kiel):
not only is Alicia Silverstone’s constant shrieking annoying but the writing is pretty awful too. Also, it takes nearly an hour before the shark turn up and that’s when things get even duller.
2. TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (directed by David Blue Garcia):
what starts out as a mildly-annoying woke rendition of the TCM horror universe bursts wide open with its absurdity in its final act. Especially mind-boggling is Leatherface being live-streamed killing party-goers on a bus mere minutes after being told that he would be “cancelled”.
3. CHOOSE OR DIE (directed by Toby Meakins):
beyond bland.
4. STUDIO 666 (directed by BJ McDonnell):
maybe the band sticks to their (early) music.
5. JEEPERS CREEPERS: REBORN (directed by Timo Vuorensola):
two lovers travel to a horror-con event, both with ulterior motives but end up getting involved personally with the Creeper. Bothered with stilted writing and dull pacing, the film tries to latch itself unto every previous horror trope in hope of landing something solid and instead sinks terribly.
6. HALLOWEEN ENDS (directed by David Gordon Green):
just runs on its absurdity and keeps on going…ultimately ending up nowhere.
7. FIRESTARTER (directed by Keith Thomas):
the definition of D.O.A (dead on arrival).
8. MORBIUS (directed by Daniel Espinosa):
maybe not every Marvel character needs to come to the screen eh.
9. THE COMMANDO (directed by Asif Akbar):
everything here is utterly C-rate and dragging in a central plot.
10. THE INVITATION (directed by Jessica M. Thompson):
starts out harmless enough and then everything literally goes to the pits.
