TOP 10 FAVOURITE TV SHOWS OF 2020...

Even with the blow of COVID-19, we still had great TV. In fact, TV became even more important as comfort. Here are the shows that helped get me through:

TOP PICK:

SMALL AXE: MINI-SERIES FILMS (BBC ONE):

Steve McQueen--who was working on the concept since the past decade--says this is actually five films and who are we to argue with him. What is not up for debate is the power encased in the stories of the black struggle in England. The rawness juxtaposed to the tender underbelly of fighting being discriminated against is crushing to witness.

THE DELICIOUS REST...

NEVER HAVE I EVER (NETFLIX):

It really is time for more Indian representation on screen and Netflix presents a delightful look at Devi in her quest to get laid!

MRS. AMERICA (HULU):

I gotta admit, I was skeptical---something about Blanchett trying out an American accent but was I in for a great surprise! The stunning thing about Mrs. America though is that even when Blanchett isn't on screen, every one picks up the pace, especially Uzo Aduba as Shirley Chisholm.

LOVECRAFT COUNTRY (HBO):

HBO found itself rushing to find the next best thing as the Game Of Thrones follow-up(s) just isn't ready yet and this was the next best thing. Had a few rough patches but overall it was phenomenal to see such vividness on screen again.

THE CROWN: SEASON 4 (NETFLIX):

we've been waiting for Princess Diana and former PM Margaret Thatcher to appear and the wait was worth it.

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS: SEASON 2 (FX):

more spooky fun and the Haley Joel Osment bits had me in stitches!

SPITTING IMAGE 2020: SEASON 1 (ITV):

the long-running animated British show returned and did Trump in style...it truly made Trump ridiculous eternally.

DRACULA (NETFLIX):

any new adaptation of a classic like Dracula had better be trying something new with the character and once I realized Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat (the genius duo behind 'Sherlock') were the series developers, I knew a hit was in the making. The star however is  Claes Bang, who positively reinvents the iconic character in all his blood-thirsty, lusty power. With, of course, Dolly Wells his equal as Sister Agatha.

THE BOYS: SEASON 2 (PRIME VIDEO):

first, I shockingly forgot to have season 1 on my list last year but no overlooking season 2. It's yet another solid run but demonstrates that though Homelander remains our superhero evil, those that made him are equally so.
